Manchester United come out of the international break ready for a trip to Southampton after two consecutive defeats. 

Pressure mounted on United boss Erik Ten Hag after he saw his side lose 3-0 to Liverpool in what was an incredibly poor performance from the Red Devils.

Furthermore, they are only looking for their second win of the season as they haven’t won since the 1-0 opening-day victory against Fulham.

Manchester United face a Southampton side with three losses so far and only managed to score their first goal of the season in their third match against Brentford.

15 United players went out on international duty this past week and so they hope to return with a win against Southampton this weekend.

Injury problems have plagued Erik Ten Hag’s team so far this season with Bruno Fernandes and Luke Shaw both doubtful for Saturday’s game.

Manchester United cautiously backed to beat the Saints

The Red Devils on paper are clear favourites on Saturday, but with the mounting pressure and negativity surrounding the clubs after three games, the bookies remain cautious.

According to Oddschecker, United are the favourites but at just 4/5 odds, giving them a 55% chance of beating a newly promoted side who are yet to earn a point.

Southampton are backed at 7/2 with a draw at 3/1, which is more probable due to the situation at United and the fact that the Saints have the home advantage.

Despite the issues at United, we predict a 2-0 victory for Erik Ten Hag’s side in a game where they could score more, there will still be critics, but they should pick up three points here.
