Manchester United target rules out Old Trafford move by signing new long term contract

Manchester United target Harry Maguire has ruled out the possibility of a move to Old Trafford by signing a new long-term contract with Leicester City.

The England international was heavily linked with a move to United during the summer after an impressive World Cup in Russia.

Jose Mourinho had reportedly eyed Maguire as a priority target to help sure up his defence, however no move was made and the 25-year-old remained with the Foxes.

There was hope United would make their move in January, with suggestions Maguire was also open to a move to United in order to bolster his chances of winning the Premier League.

However any possibility of Maguire moving to Old Trafford has now been ended.

Maguire signed a new five-year-deal with Leicester yesterday -a deal that will keep him at the club until 2023.

“Ever since I came to this club, I’ve always reiterated how good they’ve been to me,” the defender said after signing his new deal.

“They gave me an opportunity to play in the Premier League and built a great platform for me to go and perform at the World Cup,” Maguire added.

“I owe them a lot and I’m looking forward to the future.”
