Manchester United Sign Box-To-Box Midfielder

Manchester United Women, who are currently top of the Women’s Super League, have signed a new midfielder to add to their ranks – Norwegian Lisa Naalsund.

Naalsund, 27, is a tireless box-to-box midfielder who will provide energy and industry for United in the middle of the park. Before making the journey to England, Naalsund had played exclusively in Norway at club level, for Arna-Bjørnar and SK Brann Kvinner.

At SK Brann Kvinner, Naalsund won the Norwegian top division two years in a row – in 2020/21 and 2021/22. In total, she made 77 league appearances for Brann and scored 11 goals.

Additionally, she has also represented Norway as an international. Currently, she has nine caps for Gresshoppene. She was scheduled to play in the Women’s Euros in 2022, but missed out due to injury.

Speaking to Manchester United’s club website, Naalsund said: “Manchester United is a great football club and I’m very excited to be here. The club is full of nice people and I’m really looking forward to playing in front of the amazing fans.

“It’s great to come to a club that has everything to play for this season – I love that. It’s going to be great!”

Naalsund’s contract is set to last until the end of the 2025/26 season and sends a message to rivals Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and City that United’s WSL team are serious about their title push this season. With the improving men’s team and the stellar performance of the women’s team it is a good time to be a United fan.
