Manchester United Reportedly Closing In On New Deal For Midfield Enforcer

Manchester United are confident that Ander Herrera will sign a new deal with the club, according to reports in the UK.

The 29-year-old’s current contract expires in the summer, and he will be able to talk to foreign clubs in just over two months’ time about a free transfer at the end of the season.

However, United reportedly held constructive discussions with Herrera’s representatives before the last international break. It is believed an agreement is in sight for extending his stay at Old Trafford,

The Spaniard hasn’t been a regular under Jose Mourinho this season, although it must be said that an ankle injury sustained last month has prevented him from playing more.

Still, Herrera has made just four appearances in all competitions since the start of the campaign. In his only start in the Premier League against Tottenham, he was chosen to play at centre-back. He was taken off after 55 minutes in the 3-0 home defeat last month.
