Manchester United Predicted XI vs Spurs

Manchester United kick-off the new Premier League season at home to Tottenham Hotspurs today. The Red Devils have been busy in the transfer window this summer, already bringing in five new signings and more look to follow.

A good start is vital for United if they are to contend for the title. Last season’s dismal start put them well out of the title race extremely early on, and Van Gaal will hope for a win against Spurs to begin the campaign.

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea will not play against Spurs amid ongoing interest from Real Madrid.
So with Romero unlikely to be match-fit, and Victor Valdes set to leave, we could see Sam Johnstone between the sticks.

Bastian Schweinsteiger and Marcos Rojo are not considered fit enough but there could be debuts for Memphis Depay, Morgan Schneiderlin and Matteo Darmian.

Here’s how we think United will line-up this afternoon:

(4-2-3-1)

Romero

Darmian – Smalling – Blind – Shaw

Schneiderlin – Carrick

Mata – Depay – Young

Rooney

So there looks to be no place in the side for two of last season’s unsung heroes Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini. But nevertheless let’s hope for a winning start to the new campaign. COME ON UNITED!
