Manchester United Player Ratings vs Crystal Palace

Manchester United ended their 3 game losing streak with a 1-2 victory over Crystal Palace. The win means that a place in next seasons Champions League will be secure if Liverpool lose tomorrow.

The game may not have been a spectacular show from the Red Devils, but when the final whistle sounds, the most important thing is the 3 points.

The win was also marred by yet another injury to young left back Luke Shaw, who suffered what looked to be a concussion, after he was elbowed in the face.

David De Gea’s heroics more than certainly saved United, two spectacular saves ensured United weren’t left red faced by Palace. Ashley Young contributed to both of United’s goals, and was rightly awarded with the Man of the Match award.

Here is how I rate the United sides performances.

De Gea – 8.5
Valencia – 6
Smalling – 6.5
Jones – 7
Shaw – N/A
Blind – 5
Herrera – 7
Fellaini – 7
Mata – 6.5
Young – 9
Rooney – 6

Subs: Falcao (6), Evans (6), McNair (6).

It was a rather poor United performance in truth, but the likes of De Gea, Herrera and Young certainly played their part. Daley Blind didn’t have the best performance he’s ever had, his mistake lead to Palace’s goal, as the Dutchman decided against jumping when defending a free kick.
