Premier League all-time leading scorer Alan Shearer was very complimentary about Manchester United forward Rasmus Hojlund after he scored the winner against Brentford at the weekend.
The Denmark international had been struggling for form prior to the game on Sunday but, speaking on Match of the Day, Shearer praised the striker’s contributions:
“I thought Hojlund was really impressive. A lot of times having to do the dirty work and holding defenders off. It allowed the other two to play a more forward role.”
Fans on X echoed Shearer’s sentiments with many hoping that Hojlund can kick on from here:

Hojlund’s barren run comes to an end
The 21-year-old had not scored in the league since the last game of last season against Brighton & Hove Albion.
However, after scoring his first of the campaign versus Porto before the international break, Hojlund’s confidence in front of goal appears to be returning. He took his chance superbly against Brentford, chipping the ball past Bees keeper Mark Flekken.
United have to build on the win
The Red Devils responded very well after going behind at the weekend, and manager Erik ten Hag will be keen to carry that momentum into the Europa League clash against Fenerbahce on Thursday.
With Hojlund finding his shooting boots, it should give the team a much greater chance of securing all three points in Turkey.
