‘Well Deserved’ ‘Improving Day In, Day Out’ – Fans React As Shearer Names United Star In Team Of The Week

Manchester United fullback Diogo Dalot has been named in Alan Shearer’s Official Premier League Team of the Week.

The Portuguese international’s contributions were recognised by Shearer after he played as an inverted fullback on the left against Crystal Palace last Saturday:

“He impressed as he inverted into midfield and defended well as Man Utd made it back-to-back clean sheets.”

Fans on X believe that the recognition for Dalot is well deserved based on his performance last weekend:

Dalot bounced back after a poor display at Southampton

While the 25-year-old’s displays have been very good, on the whole, this season he did struggle somewhat in the game prior to the Palace fixture.

Youngster Tyler Dibling caused Dalot all sorts of problems during the win over Southampton and the United fullback actually gave away a penalty when the teenager got past him. Luckily, Andre Onana was on hand to save the subsequent spot-kick.

Who joins the United defender in Shearer’s ‘Team of the Week’?

The former Newcastle and England striker selected Arsenal’s David Raya in goal despite the Spaniard conceding twice in the 2-2 draw against Manchester City.

Dalot lines up alongside Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold and Arsenal’s Gabriel in defence. Chelsea’s Moises Caicedo, Liverpool’s Ryan Gravenberch, Tottenham’s James Maddison and Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers are the players named in the middle of the park by Shearer.

Up front, Southampton’s Dibling is picked along with Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson and Liverpool’s Luis Diaz.
