BBC pundit Chris Sutton believes Manchester United and Chelsea will play out a draw this weekend.
While he feels that the away side will make life hard for the Red Devils, Sutton says that Ruud van Nistelrooy’s men could exploit gaps in their opponent’s defence:
“I see Chelsea as being the superior team here and my head tells me they will win, but if they are quite open again at Old Trafford then that could suit Manchester United and let them get something.”
Van Nistelrooy began his interim spell in charge with a comprehensive 5-2 victory over Leicester City in the Carabao Cup midweek, but Sutton can’t see the Dutchman making it two wins from two.
What is Sutton’s score prediction?
The former Chelsea striker has gone with a 1-1 draw, which is a result that will not really please either side. United are currently 14th in the Premier League table and a point would not move them into the top 10.
Their opponents are, though, a tough nut to crack, having only lost once on the road in the league so far this campaign.
United will be without 7 players for the Chelsea fixture
Mason Mount is not expected to be available to face his former club at Old Trafford on Sunday evening, while the likes of Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia remain short of match fitness.
Harry Maguire has not recovered from a calf problem he sustained against Aston Villa last month, with Kobbie Mainoo (hamstring) and Antony (ankle) also still out of contention.
It is hoped that Leny Yoro will be available for selection after the next international break. The defender has not made his competitive debut yet after breaking his metatarsal in pre-season but he could be ready to play in Ruben Amorim’s first match in charge.
