Manchester United midfielder Casemiro put in one of his best displays of the season so far during the 1-1 draw against Chelsea at the weekend.
The Brazilian won several important tackles and set up a chance for Rasmus Hojlund who subsequently won his side a penalty.
Fans on X were very happy with Casemiro’s contribution, especially as many had written the player off after some very difficult moments over the past 15 months:

I thought his legs were gone and couldn’t cover ground 🤷🏾♂️

Without Case this team is lost, only player that puts in any effort to recover balls. All his bookings are blamed on lacking effort of the rest of the team

Casemiro rolls back the years
Plenty of supporters and pundits had already decided that the 32-year-old was well past his prime and that he was no longer capable of playing at the highest level.
However, it is important to point out that Casemiro had been exposed by the tactics that previous manager Erik ten Hag had been employing.
He was tasked with covering too much ground; an issue that interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy has immediately corrected by playing Manuel Ugarte closely beside him in a midfield two.
United earned themselves a point against a tough opponent
It certainly wasn’t a great performance from the Red Devils but Casemiro did exemplify the work ethic that prevented Chelsea from creating too many opportunities.
The Blues had scored 11 goals in 4 away games heading into Sunday’s encounter, but they needed a wonder goal from Moises Caicedo to get back on level terms at Old Trafford.
