Ashworth Now Set To Offer New Contracts To 2 Other United Stars After Bruno Fernandes

Manchester United sporting director Dan Ashworth has made it a priority to tie down Kobbie Mainoo and Amad Diallo to new contracts, according to TBRFootball.

Captain Bruno Fernandes has recently committed his future to the Red Devils but Ashworth is keen to get signatures from both Mainoo and Amad as well.

Out of the two, Amad is the most pressing contract to extend, considering that his current deal is set to expire at the end of the season.

While United do have an option to keep the Ivorian for another year, the club would like to retain his services for the long term, considering his excellent performances at the start of this campaign.

Amad has come on leaps and bounds over the past 12 months, having been previously loaned out to the likes of Rangers and Sunderland. This season, he has started 4 of the club’s first 5 matches (including the Community Shield), having firmly moved ahead of Antony in the pecking order.

More time can be taken over a new contract for Mainoo

In terms of Amad’s teammate, Mainoo, the teenager only put pen to paper in February last year, keeping him at Old Trafford until the summer of 2027.

However, TBR claim that Ashworth is keen to reward the England international with a “huge pay rise”, having established himself as a regular starter for both club and country.

United have six players out of contract next summer

The futures of Mainoo and Amad are not the only ones that need to be resolved over the coming months. There are six members of the first-team squad (including Amad) whose contracts expire in June.

Former captain Harry Maguire, Christian Eriksen, Victor Lindelof, Jonny Evans and Tom Heaton are also nearing the end of their current deals.
