Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag selected Noussair Mazraoui to start ahead of Amad Diallo against Fenerbahce.
The Ivorian was also overlooked as a substitute with Antony chosen to come on ahead of him in Turkey. It was only when the Brazilian got injured that Amad got his chance in the last few minutes of the match.
Most fans on X are perplexed as to why the winger is not being given more minutes by ten Hag:
Sure
Eth doesnβt rate him

Ten Hag played a RB at Number 10, out of stubbornness. How can people still back him and say his the right man for united.

Amad has fallen down the pecking order
The 22-year-old looked poised for regular game time this season after impressing in the opening few games of the campaign.
Amad scored on his first league start against Brighton, and he provided an assist when he played the full 90 minutes during the 3-0 win over Southampton. However, he has been an unused substitute in the last two Premier League fixtures against Aston Villa and Brentford, while he only got a brief cameo off the bench versus Fenerbahce.
United have more injury problems heading into the West Ham game
Antony’s injury against Fenerbahce means there are currently seven first-team players on the treatment table. Mason Mount (knock), Kobbie Mainoo (hamstring), Harry Maguire (calf), Luke Shaw (leg), Tyrell Malacia (fitness) and Leny Yoro (foot) are all unavailable.
You would think that would aid Amad’s chances of facing West Ham on Sunday due to the lack of other options but ten Hag may have other ideas.
