Roy Keane Claims United Ace Cannot Be Trusted To Start Games Despite Club Demanding £58M For Him

Manchester United legend Roy Keane doesn’t believe Alejandro Garnacho can be trusted when given starting opportunities.

Speaking after the Argentinian international was named as a substitute for the 2-1 win over Leicester City, Keane claimed that the winger has a much greater impact when he comes on in games:

“I think it suits him when he comes off the bench. I don’t think you can trust him when he starts.”

“When he comes on and the game is stretched, that’s when he comes into his own. They put Leicester on the back foot and the subs made an impact. That’s what Garnacho does well.”

Garnacho was linked with an exit from Old Trafford in January

Napoli were reportedly keen to recruit the 20-year-old as a replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia while Chelsea were rumoured to have made enquiries about the player.

However, the Red Devils were keen to get top dollar for Garnacho, with it being suggested that they would not let him leave for less than €70m (£58m).

Amorim needs to get the best out of the United forward

With head coach Ruben Amorim having sanctioned the loan departures of both Marcus Rashford and Antony, he doesn’t exactly have that many options to choose from in his front three.

Garnacho is undoubtedly a very really talented player with plenty of untapped potential. So far, he has struggled to find his best form under the current United boss.

The winger has not scored since Amorim’s appointment and the only assist to his name came in the FA Cup third round against Arsenal.

After replacing Patrick Dorgu at halftime versus Leicester, Garnacho was positive on the ball and made a telling impact. Amorim needs to find a way of getting more out of the player on a consistent basis.
