Report Reveals When ‘Vulnerable’ Ten Hag Could Be Sacked By United As Berrada Holds Talks With Several Managers

Manchester United will consider sacking Erik ten Hag during the next international break, according to the Daily Mail.

The English tabloid report that the Dutchman has been given a stay of execution but “he will be vulnerable” to being replaced if results don’t improve before mid-November.

Heading into the match against West Ham on Sunday afternoon, the Red Devils sit 12th in the Premier League table, having picked up just 11 points from 8 games.

Ten Hag’s side are already 10 points adrift of league leaders Liverpool and six points off the top four.

“Secret” meetings have been held with a “number of managers”

The Daily Mail also claim that United have been holding “secret talks” with potential candidates over the past couple of weeks.

A “number of managers” have been spoken to, including ex-Barcelona boss Xavi, who is believed to have met a four-man delegation led by Chief Executive Omar Berrada.

The likes of Sporting Lisbon head coach Ruben Amorim (who has been linked with the Manchester City job), former Borussia Dortmund boss Edin Terzic (who is coincidentally in the running to replace Julen Lopetegui at West Ham), and Brentford’s Thomas Frank are under consideration too.

Who is favourite to replace ten Hag at United?

Despite not being named as a frontrunner by the media, the bookmakers currently have assistant manager Ruud van Nistelrooy as the likeliest candidate to take the reins.

The Dutchman has been head coach before at PSV Eindhoven, where he won the Dutch Cup. Many feel that INEOS may go with a more experienced name but you can’t rule out van Nistelrooy being appointed on an interim basis.

A lot still depends on ten Hag and whether the board will be forced into making a decision if things don’t improve between now and the next round of international fixtures.
