Manchester United Making Move For Bayern’s Midfielder On Deadline Day

Manchester United look set to make a secure a deal for Bayern Munich’s Marcel Sabitzer, according to reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.

Sabitzer is in Manchester United’s crosshairs due to the extent of Christian Eriksen’s ankle injury, which could keep the Dane out of action for around three months. As such, the Red Devils are hunting for a creative midfield replacement.

Sabitzer hasn’t been at his best this season – he’s scored one goal and registered one assist in 24 Bayern Munich games. Should a move for the player materialise, United will be hoping the Austrian star can recapture the form he displayed at RB Leipzig.

Chelsea are also rumoured to be interested in the player, but the lion’s share of their attention is currently dedicated towards the acquisition of Benfica’s Enzo Fernandez. Right now, United are thought to be leading the race.

Sabitzer signed for Bayern Munich back in 2021 from Leipzig. The deal was thought to be in the region of £14 million – it’s currently unclear how much United will have to pay to secure his services.

He has also been capped on 68 occasions by his native Austria. In this time, he has scored 12 international goals for Das Team.

As it is currently Transfer Deadline Day, United have until 11pm GMT to complete a deal for the 28-year-old. Can they get Sabitzer over the line as a replacement for Christian Eriksen as it seems United must make a move?
