REPORT: Liverpool Transfer Target Would Prefer To Join Manchester United

Liverpool transfer target Sofyan Amrabat is set to reject the Reds in favour of a move to Manchester United, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

United fans will take this as a modicum of vengeance over the bitter rivals. Back in January, they had been pursuing Cody Gakpo, only for him to sign for Liverpool – as such, this will make Amrabat’s decision to join the Red Devils even sweeter.

However, United have yet to submit an official bid for the player, despite his preference to join the club. As such, the ball is now firmly in the Red Devils’ court – will they make a move?

What did Romano say regarding Sofyan Amrabat’s transfer status?

Speaking on his official YouTube channel, Romano said: “Liverpool know how much it takes to sign Sofyan Amrabat – on the club side and on the player side. Now, it’s on Liverpool. They didn’t submit a bid to Fiorentina and they didn’t submit a bid to the player. So let’s see if Liverpool will move for Amrabat or will go for another player.

“At the moment, Amrabat remains on his position – he said yes to Man United at the end of June, but it’s almost two months waiting and waiting and waiting. So, it’s on Man United now. Amrabat is waiting for Man United, but now, they have to submit a bid.”

Will Sofyan Amrabat be a good signing for Manchester United?

If his performances for Morocco in the 2022 World Cup are any indication of his abilities, Amrabat will be a fantastic addition to the Manchester United squad.

For all of Casemiro’s talents, at the age of 31, he is not getting any younger. Soon, he will be past his peak – which will leave Manchester United without a world-class defensive midfielder.

The potential acquisition of Amrabat should be a great way to solve this issue. He is a technically-gifted midfielder with a range of passing, but his biggest strengths are in his indomitable work rate and excellent tackling ability.

At 26 years of age, he is nearing his peak – he could be an excellent player for Manchester United for years to come, even if he isn’t quite on Casemiro’s level just yet.
