Manchester United came out of the international break desperate for a win as they looked to bounce back after five winless games.
The Red Devils’ last game was a 0-0 draw against Aston Villa, a game which the higher-ups at United used to assess Erik Ten Hag’s future at the club.
Pressure began to mount on Ten Hag when his side lost 3-0 at home to Tottenham Hotspur in what was a poor performance.
Manchester United’s next game comes against Brentford on Saturday 19 October at Old Trafford. The Red Devils will be desperate for a win, but going by their record coming out of international breaks, that could be tough.
Manchester United’s poor post-international break record
United have the worst record out of the ‘big six’ in the Premier League coming off an international break over the past decade.
Research from BetVictor has revealed that the Red Devils have won just three out of their 10 previous games after the October international break since 2014, losing two and drawing five.
Unsurprisingly, the best record is held by Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City who have won nine of their 10 games and drew the other.
Chelsea have the second best record winning six from 10 and losing just once after the October break since 2014.
North London rivals Arsenal and Spurs both have four wins alongside Liverpool ahead of United winning four also.
What Manchester United need to do to beat Brentford?
Erik Ten Hag’s team will be keen to prove the doubters wrong on Saturday against a tough Brentford side.
The Red Devils need to make sure they are defensively sound against Brentford as the Bees scored seven goals in their last three games including five against Wolves last time out.
United managed to keep a clean sheet in their last game against Aston Villa thanks to strong performances from Jonny Evans and Diogo Dalot.
They will need more of the same on Saturday if they are to avoid a sixth consecutive match without a win.
