Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo is a doubt for both Thursday night’s Europa League match against Porto and Sunday’s Premier League game against Aston Villa.
He was substituted off before halftime during Manchester United’s 3-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford however it is unclear as to what Mainoo’s injury consists of.
The midfielder has had a history of issues with his ankle in the past and it could simply be a reaggravation. Manager Erik Ten Hag said: “Of course, when a player is coming off before half-time already, then there are some concerns.”
It is likely that Mainoo will miss Thursday night’s game against FC Porto and will most likely get replaced by Christian Eriksen in midfield although the English midfielder has been in training.
He could be available for the clash against Aston Villa which could decide Erik Ten Hag’s fate as the Manchester United boss is under heavy pressure to improve.
Expected return date – Sunday 6 October vs Aston Villa (A)
Harry Maguire
Centre-back Harry Maguire has already missed significant time this season due to a thigh injury, but he is a doubt for the next two games with an unknown issue, much like Kobbie Mainoo.
The England international’s status is set at 25% currently and he is being assessed over his condition to decide his availability for United’s clash against Porto on Thursday night.
He suffered a knock in training last week which kept him out of the 3-0 loss to Spurs, but he is expecting to be available for at least the Aston Villa match on Sunday.
