Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount is set to miss ‘several weeks’ after he suffered a hamstring injury.
The midfielder suffered his injury during United’s impressive 2-1 win against rivals Manchester City last weekend.
He will miss the busy Christmas period and an extended period afterwards as the initial assessment of his injury does not look good.
Mount has struggled with injury problems ever since joining Manchester United from Chelsea in 2023. He has made just 22 Premier League appearances since.
United manager Ruben Amorim said after their 4-3 defeat to Tottenham in midweek: “‘Several weeks. I don’t know the exact date, but it’s going to be for long. And that’s it, it’s part of football, and you continue.”
Expected return date – Unknown
Victor Lindelof
Defender Lindelof is currently being assessed over a knock that he picked up during United’s 4-3 defeat against Spurs in the Carabao Cup.
Amorim said: “I think he has something we have to assess to say specifically what he has, but it’s tough to lose a player.”
There is a chance that if his issue is minor, Lindelof could return for United’s game against Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon. However, at this stage, it is unclear as to how serious the Sweden international’s injury is.
Expected return date – Thursday 26 December vs Wolves (A)
Luke Shaw
Shaw suffered a new set-back in the recovery of his leg injury which has plagued a large part of his career at Manchester United.
He said at the start of December: “Unfortunately, I’ve had a small setback. I’ve been through a lot, but this has definitely been my toughest period.
“I’m absolutely devastated, and it’s extremely tough to come to terms with reality at this moment in time.”
It is unclear yet as to when Shaw will be ready to return. It will very likely be in the new year.
