Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim says he still doesn’t “have a day” for when Mason Mount and Luke Shaw will be available for selection again.
Both players have been sidelined since December, with Shaw suffering a setback after a substitute appearance against Everton, while Mount broke down in the opening stages of the Manchester derby.
Mount and Shaw have had serious problems staying fit over the last eighteen months, and fans on X have expressed their frustration about the situation:
Sell em both man

Such a waste of money

I give up on these two. I feel bad for them. Injuries and recovery are hard only to be reinjured again. I cannot see them rebounding unless they become part robotic!

2 dead weights. Time to get rid!

It isn't their fault they are injured all the time but really, United have to ask what is the benefit of having these guys at the club?

Shaw and Mount’s recent injury history
Since the start of the 2023/24 campaign, Shaw has been out for 530 days in total. His latest injury was initially believed to be a minor setback but he has now been unavailable for the best part of three months.
Mount, meanwhile, has had a tough time since his £55m move from Chelsea. The England international has picked up four separate injuries, keeping him out for 47 matches overall. Amorim says that the midfielder is the closest to returning out of the two players. It was previously reported that his comeback was pencilled in for March.
United also have six other players out
In addition to Shaw and Mount, Kobbie Mainoo, Toby Collyer, Altay Bayindir (all knocks) and Jonny Evans (back) are currently unavailable.
Amad Diallo (ankle) and Lisandro Martinez (ACL) have been ruled out for the rest of the season with serious injuries.
