Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford is set to be available for selection in the next game against Southampton on Thursday night.
The Red Devils come off the back of an FA Cup win against Arsenal when Ruben Amorim‘s side won on penalties after a 1-1 draw in 120 minutes at the Emirates Stadium.
They will face Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s Leicester City in the fourth round as they aim to continue in the FA Cup and defend their title from last season.
Attacker Marcus Rashford has taken up a lot of column inches in recent weeks amid reports that he is set to leave Old Trafford during the January transfer window. AC Milan is currently the most likely destination for the 27-year-old.
He has been dealing with an illness recently, but looks set to return to full fitness ahead of United’s next game against Southampton, meaning he could be available, should Amorim want to select him in his squad.
Amorim said last week: “At the moment, he is ill. I think he’s going to be out this week. He’s not training, so we will see.”
Expected return date – Thursday 16 January vs Southampton (H)
Mason Mount
Mount suffered a hamstring injury during United’s 2-1 win against rivals Manchester City in mid-December.
At the time, Amorim said: “Several weeks. I don’t know the exact date, but it’s going to be for long. And that’s it, it’s part of football, and you continue.”
The former Chelsea midfielder has faced a lot of injury problems this season for United, and looks set to miss the majority of the rest of the season, a big blow for the 26-year-old.
