Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has been ruled out of the opening Premier League game against Fulham on Friday 16 August.
The Red Devils are just one day away from the new season starting and despite looking as though the England international would be fit to play, he has been ruled out in a fresh update by United.
They have now revealed that Shaw will miss the opening games this season after they released a statement on the club website, which reads: “Luke Shaw will miss the opening games of the Premier League season due to a calf injury sustained at the start of pre-season training.
“He is working hard on his rehabilitation with a view to being available after the first international break.”
In United’s last game, Erik Ten Hag moved centre-back Lisandro Martinez to cover Shaw at left-back and we predict that he will do the same in his starting XI on Friday.
