Mason Mount picked up a hamstring injury in the opening stages of the Manchester derby in December.
Amorim subsequently revealed that the midfielder could be out of contention for “several weeks” but it looks as though it may be a couple of months before he is back in action.
Mount has spent just 403 minutes on the pitch so far this campaign, having already had two other spells on the sidelines with muscular injuries.
The 25-year-old has had a difficult time staying fit since moving to Old Trafford from Chelsea at the start of last season.
