Tyrell Malacia is gradually building up his fitness as he attempts to finally return from a chronic knee injury.

The 25-year-old spent the whole of last season sidelined, having had a number of setbacks after undergoing surgery. Manager Erik ten Hag says he is hopeful of having the left-back available soon:

“He’s working very hard, he’s progressing really well in this moment. He’s making big steps, so we think, at short notice, we can expect him in the team training, and he is a talent, it’s natural. I expect also, soon, he can return into games then.”

It is anticipated that Malacia will make his comeback after the next international break

Expected Return Date – Saturday 19th October v Brentford (h)
