Manchester United Injury News Ahead Of Their Clash Against Chelsea

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sweating over the fitness of Paul Pogba heading in the opening game against Chelsea. The Frenchman did not start the final two pre-season friendlies due to a back strain but the United boss has confirmed he will be fit to play on Sunday.

New signing Harry Maguire is also available following his £80m switch from Leicester City earlier this week. Alexis Sanchez is, however, highly unlikely to feature this weekend despite playing 65 minutes in a behind closed doors friendly against Blackburn.

The Chilean is four to five weeks behind the rest of the squad in terms of fitness levels, according to Solskjaer, following his late return to the squad after the Copa America.

Eric Bailly is out until Christmas after having surgery on his knee. He was stretchered off during the friendly win against Tottenham in the International Champions Cup last month.

Fullback Timothy Fosu-Mensah is also unavailable. The Dutchman sustained a serious knee injury at the backend of the last season and he isn’t expected to return to full training until well into the campaign.
