Manchester United have entered the race for Flamengo attacking midfielder Lucas Paqueta, according to reports in the French media.

Jose Mourinho’s side are not the only team interested in the 21-year-old though. Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be keen on the Brazilian international, along with two other European giants, AC Milan and Barcelona.

Paqueta reportedly has a €50m release clause in his contract but Flamengo are believed to be prepared to do a deal for around €40m (£35.6m).

The midfielder made his senior international debut earlier this month. He came on as a substitute in the 2-0 friendly victory against the United States, and he made his second appearance a few days later in the 5-0 win over El Salvador.

Paqueta has had a breakthrough season at club level. Featuring both in the league and the Copa Libertadores for Flamengo, he has scored six goals and provided four assists in 28 matches so far this campaign.
