Manchester United Have 22.5M Offer Rejected For 19 Year Old Defender

Manchester United have had an opening bid of €25m (£22.5m) turned down for Monaco centre-back Benoit Badiashile, according to reports in the French media.

The Ligue One side’s manager Niko Kovac has told the club’s board that they should reject any offer for 19-year-old, and it seems the Red Devils will have a battle on their hands to sign the defender.

It is thought that Monaco will only sell Badiashile if they receive a bid which is too good to turn down, much like the offer they received for Anthony Martial back in 2015.

United are seemingly on the lookout for a left-footed centre-back this summer. They were linked with Nathan Ake before he made the switch to Manchester City while they were also said to be interested in Lille’s Gabriel Magalhaes.

The links to Badiashile actually go back to July 2019, when reports in France claimed that the Manchester club were keeping tabs on the centre-half. At the time, it was reported that Monaco valued the player at €35m. Whether that has changed over the past year, it remains to be seen.
