“He Has To Turn It Around”, “Big Week Ahead”, “Just Sack Him”: Manchester United Fans React To Erik Ten Hag’s Potential Sacking

Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag is under significant pressure to turn things around this week otherwise he could be sacked.

Sky Sports News reported that the higher-ups at United are backing Ten Hag and will assess their decision after their two upcoming games.

United play Porto in the Europa League on Thursday night and Aston Villa on Sunday, after which is an international break. It is understood that if performances are poor again, he could be sacked.

The speculation arose after Manchester United’s 3-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur over the weekend where Erik Ten Hag’s side put in a dismal display.

United fans have reacted to the news and are taking to X to voice their opinions.

Who could replace Erik Ten Hag?

The current favourite is Ten Hag’s assistant manager at United Ruud Van Nistelrooy who joined the club over the summer. He would most likely take over on an interim basis.

Other names touted include former England manager Gareth Southgate and former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel who are both currently without a job.

Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna is also a favoured option thanks to the fantastic job he has done with the Tractor Boys getting them from League One to the Premier League.

When would Manchester United sack Ten Hag?

If United don’t perform against Porto and Aston Villa, the bosses at Old Trafford would have the perfect opportunity to sack Ten Hag.

After the Villa game, there is an international break, meaning they could bring someone in and allow them to get comfortable in the role before their first game.

If United decide to stick with Ten Hag, then his team’s results will need to start improving otherwise he may not make it to Christmas.
