Manchester United have sacked manager Erik Ten Hag after a spell of over two years at Old Trafford.
The club has decide to part ways with the Dutch manager following their 2-1 defeat at West Ham on Sunday as United sit in 14th place in the Premier League table.
Assistant manager Ruud Van Nistelrooy will take over as interim manager until the bosses at Old Trafford determine a long-term replacement for Ten Hag.
In a statement, Manchester United said: “We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future.
“Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of the team as interim head coach, supported by the current coaching team, whilst a permanent head coach is recruited.”
Manchester United fans took to X to react to the news.
At last!!!
Only downside to this is that United get good again!!
Good riddance!!

Sacking him won’t change anything about the team. This is immature

Team should take a fresh start with Rudd

Ten Hag out, Ruud in. Does this mean we’ll finally start playing like we know what a ‘goal’ is? ⚽️🤔

Ruud Van Nistelrooy favourite to be next permanent Manchester United boss
Former United player and Ten Hag’s assistant Ruud Van Nistelrooy has taken over as the interim manager at Old Trafford.
He remains the favourite to become the next permanent manager as it is likely that if he succeeds as an interim, the bosses at United may decide to allow him to take over the job on a permanent basis.
According to Oddschecker, Van Nistelrooy is 7/2 favourite to permanently replace Ten Hag ahead of Ruben Amorim (5/1) and Gareth Southgate (10/1).
