Manchester United fans have absolutely slammed Jose Mourinho following the 3-2 defeat to Brighton yesterday afternoon.
Mourinho watched on hopelessly as his side were dismantled in the first-half by the Seasiders, with goals from Glenn Murray, Shane Duffy and Pascal Gross sending the home side into a 3-1 lead at the break.
Paul Pogba scored a last minute penalty – his second in two games – to add to Romelu Lukaku’s 34th minute strike, however it wasn’t enough to stop United losing to Chris Hughton’s side for the second consecutive game.
Speaking to the press after the defeat, Mourinho pinned the loss down to a number of individual mistakes in crucial moments, which he said killed the game and made it “impossible to win”.
“We were punished by the mistakes we made. For me that’s the story of the game. We made incredible mistakes in some crucial moments. Mistakes that killed us,” he said.
“Especially that third goal – we expected to come at 2-1 with positivity – then the third goal killed us off in the second half. Our second goal came too late.
“The week leading up was good and I expected the team collectively to be better. There are basic mistakes that makes almost an impossible mission to win the match.”
However the fans seem to have a slightly different view of the events yesterday afternoon, with many of them believing Mourinho is as much – if not totally – to blame for the club’s current position.
#MourinhoOut?
We still the same boring team under Mourinho signing the best players won't solve the problem The brand of football played by Mour sides over the years has been boring He is not prepared to change the style of play We need to get a manager with an attacking mindset #MourinhoOut

I can't even get excited when United score anymore because I'm so bored by mourinho's pathetic tactics. I want to be excited by football and that won't happen under mourinho. #mourinhoout #BHAMUN

I ended my total (blind) support of Mourinho after Sevilla last season.
I end what’s left of my support of Mourinho today.
Officially #MourinhoOut.

Embarrassing. Absolutely embarrassing. Can’t buy class? He doesn’t have an ounce of it. Ask Shaw / Martial and whoever he throws under the bus after this game. Atrocious football.
Sack him! #mourinhoout
