REPORT: Manchester United Legend Heaps Praise On Transfer Target

Manchester United icon Dwight Yorke has been full of praise for key transfer target Harry Kane, according to TalkSPORT.

Yorke encouraged the club to complete a deal a for the 29-year-old, urging the club to ‘close the gap’ on Premier League champions Manchester City.

The Citizens won the treble in 2022/23, picking up the Premier League title, the FA Cup and the Champions League. They are currently the dominant club in Manchester – but the acquisition of Kane could rock the apple cart.

Yorke himself was a free-scoring forward for United – he found the back of net 48 times in 96 games for the Red Devils in the Premier League.

What did Manchester United legend Dwight Yorke say about Harry Kane?

On TalkSPORT’s breakfast radio show, Yorke said: “Harry Kane. We’ve got to really close the gap on [Manchester] City, if we don’t, we don’t have time to integrate and think, ‘oh we have another year or two.’

“I think on the back of the little success that United have had this season, they’ve got to close the gap, and they’ve got to nail that No.9 spot.

“I think in the wide areas we are fine, if Mason Mount comes, he will then give us a little bit more, he can play as a No.10 occasionally, that is a position that he might look to influence the game a little bit more.

“But certainly we’ve got enough wide players, we’ve got enough happening in those wide areas so that is not a concern, No.9 for me is where it’s at.

“And if we can’t get Harry Kane, we have to get that kid from Napoli [Victor Osimhen], bur he’s untested, certainly in the Premier League.”

Who is leading the race to sign Harry Kane?

As things stand, it is unclear as to where Harry Kane will end up next season – he may not leave Tottenham at all if a sufficient offer is not submitted for the player. Moreover, he has not submitted a transfer request.

Real Madrid, Chelsea and Newcastle United have all registered an interest in the player over the last few months – but things remain at a standstill as of yet.
