Manchester United Could Miss Out On Signing 18-Year-Old Premier League Wonderkid

Manchester United are set to miss out on signing highly-rated starlet Evan Ferguson, after it was reported that the 18-year-old would be signing a new contract at his current club Brighton (via Independent.ie).

United aren’t the only club who are set to miss out – Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Manchester City are also believed to be interested in the player.

According to the Independent, clubs will need to make an offer of at least £35 million for Brighton to even consider selling Ferguson – even then, they would be likely to turn it down.

Ferguson would have been a great signing for United – the Red Devils are in need of a centre-forward, with Wout Weghorst set to leave the club upon the expiry of his loan deal. Sadly, this one looks to be passing them by.

The 2022/23 Premier League season has been a real breakout campaign for Ferguson. So far, the young Irishman has scored eight goals for Brighton, alongside three assists.

A powerful player, he also possesses technical ability and mental attributes far beyond his years. He is a complete striker, with no noticeable weaknesses to his game.

His most recent contract with the Seagulls was signed in October of 2022 – clearly, the hierarchy at the Falmer Stadium sees no end of potential in this young man.
