Manchester United Could Have Next Season’s Lowest Age Average In the PL?

Most would not agree but I honestly like the direction in which LVG is heading. Sure, he has not had all the best of results and failed to impress since moving to Old Trafford, but he managed to do one great thing: introduce youngsters to the team. Looking at the lot, you could put together a team that averages somewhere under 23 which is amazing. What makes this amazing is actually the fact that those youngsters perform at the highest level possible. Without a doubt, they made some mistakes this season and had games when they showed they need to improve but still, seeing Rashford play the way he plays or seeing Martial dominate even the most experienced defender brings hope that this is a generation to keep your eyes on.

If LVG stays and continues down the same path, Manchester will have to endure a couple of seasons without any Champions League finals or Premier League trophies. They will thank the Dutchman after 3-4 years when Martial, Rashford, Borthwick-Jackson, Depay and Lingard are delivering results in Europe similar to what Barcelona or Real Madrid do.

Even if people don’t agree right now, Manchester have the attack covered. They need to focus elsewhere. Apparently, according to Metro, LVG thinks the same as his next investment will help fortify the midfield. Bologna’s 18-year-old defensive midfielder Amadou Diawara was apparently scouted by United over the weekend and the decision to buy is almost complete. The Italian side are willing to sell for around £20million which may sound a lot but who are we to judge after seeing Martial is worth every penny.

Now let’s take a look at what other youngsters Manchester could focus on in order to create a team that could grow and dominate football in the near future.

  1. John Stones – 21 – Center Back – already a certainty, this Everton man could be the future leader of United’s defense. He is strong, intuitive and at such a young age managed to already make close to 100 Premier League appearances as part of the starting line-up.
  2. Renato Sanches – 18 – Central Midfield – even though he is one of the youngest players in the Portuguese League, Sanches is the number one pick for Benfica, team that is about to win Portugal’s domestic competition.
  3. Youri Tielemans – 18 – Central Midfield – Anderlecht’s midfielder has turned a lot of heads in the football world this season. This guy has made 125 appearances for the Belgian side out of which 35 were made when he was just 16 years of age.

Let`s see how Manchester United’s team could look like if all these guys would be included. What you see below is an amazing squad that averages at 20 years of age. Imagine what a collection of rising stars like these could do!
