LVG has a great chance of bringing in one of the most impressive defenders in last year’s Premier League. Aston Villa’s now former defender, who turned 30 this year is a free agent and will be looking to stay in the UK in order to have a chance at winning big trophies which up until now were out of reach. Even though his career has not been the most successful ever, the center back has had a massive boost in form especially since participating in the World Cup. He was targeted by significant clubs right after but decided to stay with Villa.

According to Metro he may now join fellow compatriot Van Gaal for at least one season if he manages to agree to terms. Even though it is true that going from targets like Sergio Ramos to a free agent might sound strange, fans should also consider the fact that Vlaar is one of the toughest defenders in the world. He is intuitive and loves to tackle. He has speed even though he is massive and he definitely has the Premier League experience to take some of the pressure off of his teammates when the situation demands it. He would bring some aggressiveness to Manchester’s defensive line and he would do all that for no transfer fee. The only problem with Vlaar is that he may not be the man to use on a regular basis. He has a calf injury that for the past 3 years has kept him on the sidelines for at least 30 days each season.
