Atalanta head coach Gian Piero Gasperini says it would be “impossible” to turn down “huge bids” for Manchester United target Rasmus Hojlund.
Reports in the Danish press last week claimed that both Manchester United and Real Madrid had formally registered their interest in the striker and, when asked about the 20-year-old’s future, Gasperini replied:
“I haven’t seen so many strikers as good as Hojlund at 20. He can improve a lot, he’s great. Top European clubs are always attentive to this kind of top talents. There could be some huge bids for him that would be impossible to reject for us.”
It is believed that Atalanta could hold out for as much as £70m for Hojlund. He has already been compared to Erling Haaland by one of his former coaches and he has gained plenty of admirers in recent months.
United and Real are by no means the only teams tracking the Danish international. Chelsea have reportedly talked to Atalanta’s president Antonio Percassi about the forward, while Arsenal and Newcastle have also been credited with an interest.
Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag has prioritised a new number nine ahead of the summer transfer window so we shall see whether Hojlund ends up being his number one target.
