Manager ‘Angry’ About Transfer Situation As United And Other Clubs Baulk At Paying 13.2M For La Liga Star

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone is “angry” that Joao Felix’s future hasn’t been sorted out, according to Cadena SER journalist Julio Pulido.

Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and a number of other clubs have refused to pay the €15m (£13.2m) loan fee that Atletico are demanding for the Portuguese international, and Pulido says Simeone is not impressed with how Atletico have handled things:

“Simeone is angry with all this. He already wants the definitive answer, he wants to know now if he is staying or not staying. They [Atletico’s board] told him weeks ago that this was going to be fixed soon. He sees that the days go by and this is not solved.”

Felix’s situation is unlikely to be resolved any time soon. Clubs, including United, are thought to be waiting for Atletico to lower their demands before looking to open negotiations over a loan deal. This is set to be a transfer saga that drags on until the end of the month, with a deadline day move the likeliest outcome.

Whether United will get involved at any point, it is uncertain. Manager Erik ten Hag is believed to be keen on recruiting an out-and-out striker, which is not exactly Felix’s best position. The 23-year-old is more comfortable as a number 10.
