“I Have My Doubts” – 2x Golden Boot Winner Says Man Utd Will Be Taking Big Gamble If They Sign £59M Rated Striker

Ex-Chelsea star and two-time Premier League Golden Boot winner Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has warned Manchester United and other Premier League clubs about signing Sporting Lisbon forward Viktor Gyokeres.

The Swedish international has scored 40 goals in all competitions this season, but speaking exclusively to Man U News (courtesy of Gambling Zone), Hasselbaink said he is not sure whether Gyokeres will be a success if he makes the move back to England this summer:

“I have not seen enough of him to say that he could be a top, top player. I have my doubts about him because Brighton let him go, and they are very good with their talents, but they were happy to let him go to Coventry, and then he moved to Sporting. If Brighton rated him, if they really believed in him he would have stayed.”

“He’s doing well, but I don’t know if he’ll make it at the top of the Premier League. I know a lot of clubs are reported to be looking at him, but I’ve got my doubts that he can cut the mustard with the best strikers in the Premier League.”

United are interested in signing Gyokeres

It is believed that the 26-year-old is one of four forwards that the Red Devils are keeping tabs on ahead of the summer transfer window.

RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen are also on the club’s radar. We compared their performances this season in an article here.

The striker has plenty of suitors

Gyokeres has more than one Premier League club interested in securing his services. The likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City have also been mentioned as potential destinations for the player.

His asking price may make him a very tempting target too. Despite having a €100m (£84m) release clause in his contract, it has been claimed that there is a gentleman’s agreement for him to be sold for only €70m (£59m).
