Man Utd have announced their fourth signing of the summer transfer window, with Tynan Thompson having joined from Tottenham.

The Red Devils have paid £4m upfront, with another £4m due in performance-related add-ons for the 18-year-old.

Supporters on X are not sure what to make of Thompson‘s arrival. The teenager has not made his senior debut yet, and some have questioned whether he is worth the transfer fee that United have paid:

What do fans need to know about Thompson?

The forward came through Spurs’s youth ranks, having joined them from local team Lambeth Tigers at an early age.

Thompson made a big impression in the UEFA Youth League last season, scoring 7 goals in 7 appearances, which included a hat-trick during a 9-1 win over Slavia Prague in the group stages.

He has also been capped by England at Under-18 level, having played 7 games since his debut in September last year.

Man Utd have made three other signings so far this summer

The Red Devils have begun to ramp things up in terms of new additions over the past week.  Three new arrivals were announced in the space of a couple of days.

Andrey Santos was signed from Chelsea for £50m on July 13th, with Youri Tielemans joining from Aston Villa for £35m within 24 hours.

Soon afterwards, it was confirmed that United had wrapped up a deal for Karl Darlow. The 35-year-old was available as a free agent, having left Leeds last month. The keeper is set to be Senne Lammens’ understudy.
