Man Utd Backed To Propose “Incredible” Swap Deal Involving Rashford And £60M Rated Portuguese Ace

Former Man Utd midfielder Lee Sharpe thinks the Red Devils should try offering Marcus Rashford as part of a swap deal for AC Milan winger Rafael Leao.

The Red Devils are known to be among the Portuguese international’s suitors, and speaking to PariuriX about Rashford’s situation at Barcelona, Sharp said a player exchange with Milan would make sense:

“He has been coming off the bench quite a bit, and he’s been in and out of the team. I can see why he would want to sign for Barcelona after winning the league with them, but I think Barcelona are playing funny with the transfer fee.”

“A swap with AC Milan in terms of Leão for Rashford would be pretty good for Man United. I wouldn’t mind taking Leão to United. I think that would be incredible, but I’m just not sure if that’s what Marcus wants. I think what Marcus wants now is a big factor in what happens.”

Rashford has his heart set on moving to Spain

As Sharpe mentions, a swap deal with Milan might not be possible because of the Man Utd forward’s stance.

It doesn’t look like Barca are willing to trigger their €30m (£26m) option to sign Rashford on a permanent basis, but they may feel that, as the player wants the switch to the Camp Nou, they have United over a barrel.

Unless Rashford becomes more inclined to consider other options, you can’t see any exchange for Leao happening at the moment.

Leao has been scouted by Man Utd

Even if Rashford isn’t involved in negotiations, though, it’s clear that the Red Devils are fans of the 26-year-old.

Reports in the Portuguese media claim that scouts have been sent to watch Leao on more than one occasion in recent weeks.

Milan’s failure to secure Champions League qualification also makes a deal even more likely. They were originally looking to get between £50m and £60m for Leao, but that asking price may soon come down.

Of course, other teams will be looking at the forward as well. Both Manchester City and Liverpool have been credited with an interest.
