Man Utd are one of “three big clubs” who are interested in signing Al-Ittihad winger Moussa Diaby, according to reports in France.

Media Foot claim that the Red Devils, AC Milan and Inter Milan are all keen on bringing the former Aston Villa player back from Saudi Arabia.

Diaby left Villa Park for Al-Ittihad in a deal worth €60m (£52m) in the summer of 2024.

Over the past two seasons, the France international has racked up 11 goals and 31 assists in 71 appearances.

It looks like that the Red Devils won’t enter the race unless Al-Ittihad are willing to offload him for a fee substantially below what they paid.

Media Foot report that Michael Carrick’s side have made it clear that any deal is contingent on the forward being available for a “good” price.

It remains to be seen whether a discounted deal is on the cards, with Diaby still having three years left on his contract.

At the moment, AC Milan appear to be the 26-year-old’s most likely destination, with the Rossoneri having made contact with his entourage.

Diaby isn’t the right profile

Director of Football Jason Wilcox is thought to be in the market for a winger, but United are expected to pursue a right-footed player who prefers to be deployed on the left flank.

Diaby is left-footed and is usually better when starting off the right, so it is hard to see this move having any legs.

In terms of likelier targets, the Red Devils have been linked with Rafael Leao, Christian Pulisic and Lyon’s Afonso Moreira over the last couple of months.
