‘Wow, Okay’ ‘We Don’t Want Him Anymore’ Fans React As Carrick Makes Stance Clear On Man Utd Star’s Shock Return

Man Utd interim manager Michael Carrick is keen to bring Marcus Rashford back to Old Trafford if he gets the job on a permanent basis this summer, according to reports.

The Telegraph claim that Carrick is hoping to reunite with the 28-year-old, who he played alongside before his retirement in 2018.

Unsurprisingly, this has sparked plenty of debate among supporters on X, who are unsure whether giving Rashford another chance is a good idea:

Rashford’s future is not in Man Utd’s hands

It must be emphasised that Barcelona have an option to buy the forward for €30m (£26m). If they choose to trigger the clause between now and the summer, he will leave the Red Devils.

There are, however, doubts that they will pay the requisite fee. It has been suggested that Barca may try to renegotiate the price for Rashford at the end of the season.

Rashford has performed well this campaign

If we look at things from a pure football perspective, you can understand why Carrick would be keen on keeping the England international.

Since moving to Barcelona, Rashford has been in good form, scoring 9 goals and providing 12 assists in 31 appearances. Those figures are even more impressive when you consider he has only started 18 games.

United are also believed to be keen on strengthening their options on the left wing, so his return would also negate the need for an expensive outlay in that position. Even so, there would be big questions over his potential return, considering that the club were the ones who backed his exit last year.
