United Told They May Have Let “Real Game Changer” Leave The Club After Agreeing £40M Summer Transfer

Richard Dunne believes that Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford could end up being “a real game-changer” for Aston Villa.

The Red Devils have loaned the England international to the Villans until the end of the season, but they have the option to buy him for £40m. Speaking to William Hill, Dunne said that Rashford may prove to be an excellent addition for his former team if he produces on a consistent basis:

“Villa need to be certain that he has turned a corner and found the club that suits him. If they’re seeing a determination from Marcus that he wants to be the best player in the league – which he has the capability of being – then he can be a real game-changer for Villa and someone who can take them to the next level.”

“His potential and ability is unlimited. He can win games on his own. If they can get him firing, then it’s an amazing signing for them.”

How has Rashford performed since leaving Old Trafford?

Despite all the praise that the 27-year-old has received since making the switch to Villa Park, it should be pointed out that he hasn’t actually scored for his new team yet.

Rashford has, though, contributed three assists in his 6 appearances so far, which has doubled his number for the season.

The £40m raised can help fund United’s summer rebuild

Rashford clearly doesn’t have a future under head coach Ruben Amorim, so in some ways, it is good to see the forward impressing with Villa. It means that there is a strong possibility of the Midlands club activating their purchase clause.

With the Red Devils restricted in what they can do in terms of spending due to the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules, the £40m received could prove invaluable in financing a much-needed squad rebuild.
