Bayern Munich defender Kim Min-jae remains firmly in the sights of Man Utd, according to Bild journalist Christian Falk.

Writing in a column on his personal website, CF Bayern Insider, Falk claimed that the South Korean is being tracked by the Red Devils, but the player isn’t agitating to leave the Bundesliga champions:

“There is some truth to reports around Manchester United’s interest in Min-jae Kim. As I’ve mentioned with Bayern Insider previously, the South Korean international is on the list at United.”

“They’re always looking at his situation at Bayern Munich. That said, Min-jae Kim is very clear at the moment that he wants to stay at Bayern, and he’s fine with his current role at the club.”

Kim is a highly rated centre-back

The 29-year-old played a key role in helping Napoli win the Serie A title under Luciano Spalletti during the 2022/23 season, and he was named the league’s best defender as a result.

Kim’s performances subsequently attracted the attention of Bayern, who paid €50m to bring him to Germany in July 2023. He has spent the last three seasons at the Allianz Arena.

Jonathan Tah and Dayot Upamecano are Bayern’s preferred centre-half partnership, so there would be an openness to selling him for the right price.

Man Utd are not looking to strengthen in his position

The biggest reason why United have not firmed up their interest in Kim up until now is down to the fact that they have prioritised other areas to reinforce.

Club legend Paul Scholes has advocated for up to two centre-backs to be signed, and even mentioned Tottenham’s Cristian Romero as a possible target.

However, manager Michael Carrick and Director of Football Jason Wilcox are believed to be keen on recruiting a left-back.
