Man Utd have “made contact” with the representatives of Crystal Palace forward Ismaila Sarr, according to reports.

TEAMtalk claim that the Red Devils were already interested in signing the Senegalese international before the World Cup.

However, Sarr’s exploits whilst playing in the tournament have cemented their view that he should be a top target to strengthen the front three.

The 28-year-old scored 5 times for his country across 4 games, including a goal (and an assist) during their 3-2 defeat to Belgium in the last 32 clash earlier this week.

Sarr could replace either Rashford or Zirkzee

The Senegalese star spent most of last season playing off the right wing for Palace, and he was very prolific as well, scoring 21 goals in all competitions, including 9 as the Eagles won the Conference League.

However, Sarr is right-footed, so there would be scope for using him off the left flank, making him a viable candidate to replace Marcus Rashford.

He also excelled when deployed as a centre-forward for Senegal at the World Cup, so he could easily be used as a backup for Benjamin Sesko, with Joshua Zirkzee’s future far from certain.

Would Palace sell him to Man Utd?

The fact that Pierre Sage has replaced Oliver Glasner in the dugout at Selhurst Park means there is uncertainty over where Sarr stands.

It’s likely that the forward will still be seen as a key figure, but United will be looking to discover whether there is a chance a deal can be secured before the transfer window closes.
