‘Someone Please Tell Me This Is A Joke’ ‘How Did This Happen?’ United Fans Shocked As Chelsea Complete Transfer Hijack

Chelsea have beaten Manchester United to the signature of Sporting Lisbon wingback Geovany Quenda, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian journalist claims that the Blues have agreed to sign the teenager at the end of next season, ending the Red Devils’ hopes of bringing him to Old Trafford.

Many fans on X felt Quenda would make the switch to Old Trafford, considering his close connection with Ruben Amorim, and they can’t believe what has happened:

Chelsea’s interest came out of the blue

Even yesterday, reports in the Portuguese media had suggested that Quenda’s switch to Manchester was “inevitable” with the player keen to work with his former manager who had given him his first-team debut.

Yet, almost overnight, it had been revealed that the youngster had agreed a seven-year contract with Chelsea, with an option for another 12 months.

United don’t have the funds to sign Quenda

Chelsea have agreed to pay upwards of €50m (£42m) for the 17-year-old, with Sporting more than happy to accept the offer as it means he will stay with them for another season.

Despite Quenda being a key target for United, the club are not currently in a position to spend that sort of money. Amorim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe have both made it clear that the club need to sell before they buy this summer.
