Brighton chief executive Paul Barber has heavily hinted that the Seagulls will sell Man Utd transfer target Carlos Baleba.
The Red Devils have already had a £65m bid (including add-ons) rejected for the Cameroon international, but the offer was believed to be close to the player’s asking price, which is around £70m.
When asked about Baleba‘s future by talkSPORT, Barber said that Brighton would seriously consider offers if it “makes sense for us” financially:
“It’s not something that I can talk about right now. I mean this time of year as you know we’re always going to be subject to bids for our players.
We are always going to be interested in ones that are sensible and that are going to make sense for us financially and economically.”

Based on these remarks from Barber, it seems almost certain that the midfielder will be wearing a Red shirt in a week or so.
The Athletic‘s Brighton correspondent Andy Naylor also predicted that the deal will “end up happening.” He has good inside sources at the Amex, so there is every indication that this transfer is close, as long as Man Utd increase their opening offer ever so slightly.

Who could follow Baleba in through the door at Old Trafford?
Director of Football Jason Wilcox is said to be making calls to sign a left-back before the transfer window shuts. Speaking about potential incomings in his press conference on Thursday, head coach Michael Carrick made it clear that he expects further arrivals:
“I just think we’re looking to strengthen the squad. We’re certainly working towards that and making the most of the situation that we have, trying to improve things.”
“Certainly trying to make most of the opportunities to finish the window stronger than we went into it. I think we’re in a good way to doing that so far.”
