Sky Reporter Reveals United, Arsenal And Spurs Have “Expressed Interest” In Striker With £58M Release Clause

Manchester United are one of several English clubs keen on signing RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg.

The journalist claims that the Red Devils, Arsenal and Tottenham have all “expressed interest” in the Slovenian international.

Sesko is expected to leave Leipzig at the end of the season, with the existence of a release clause likely to tempt many teams into making a bid.

Plettenberg says the buyout fee currently stands at €70m (£58m), but due to certain conditions, it may well rise to €80m (£66m) by the summer.

United have pursued Sesko before

The Manchester club have kept tabs on the forward since his time with Red Bull Salzburg. There was speculation about a potential transfer to Old Trafford prior to his switch to Germany before the start of the 2023/24 campaign.

Arsenal and Chelsea then attempted to buy Sesko last year, only for the player to turn down the advances and remain at Leipzig. The feeling is, though, that he will be on the move over the next few months.

Hojlund’s struggles may force the club into the transfer market

It should be pointed out that Sesko is a year younger than Rasmus Hojlund, but the Denmark international’s drought in front of goal has raised concerns about his ability to lead the line.

The striker has not scored in 18 games, having found the back of the net just twice in the Premier League this campaign.

If Sesko were to make the switch, it would raise doubts about Hojlund’s long-term future with United. Many were impressed with Chido Obi’s display after he replaced the Dane in the second-half against Fulham.

Some have even called for the 17-year-old to start ahead of Hojlund. If that happens over the coming weeks, you fear for the former Atalanta player’s future.
