Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni is high on the shortlist of candidates to replace Man Utd midfielder Casemiro, according to reports.

The Telegraph claim that the France international could become available if Real need funds to sign either Rodri from Manchester City or Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea.

Man Utd have cooled interest in 2 other midfielders

Tchouameni’s name has moved further up the list of candidates to strengthen the midfield due to the fact that other targets are no longer under consideration.

The Telegraph report that Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton is seen as too similar to Kobbie Mainoo, while Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali isn’t a top option either.

Tchouameni and Anderson are the favoured targets

Any bid for Tchouameni is contingent on Real Madrid signalling they are open to doing business, and that is not guaranteed to happen.

In contrast, Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson is expected to be on the move over the coming months, although he could cost an arm and a leg.

Forest’s asking price is said to be £100m, and United would also have to see off competition from Man City to secure his signature.
