Barcelona’s Alejandro Balde is among the targets that Man Utd are considering to strengthen their left-back options, according to reports.

TEAMtalk claim that the Red Devils have a shortlist of three names, with the Spanish international, Newcastle’s Lewis Hall and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Nathaniel Brown all liked by the club’s recruitment team.

Out of the three, Hall is deemed the preferred target, but he is also the least likely to make the move to Old Trafford, unless Newcastle change their stance.

The Magpies are currently not interested in offloading the England international, and it would take an offer in excess of £60m to even contemplate a sale.

Brown will be nearly as expensive, with the German’s asking price set at £55m, and there is also strong interest from Bayern Munich.

Balde is on the market

While Hall and Brown are difficult deals to secure, the Barcelona player is said to be available. TEAMtalk report that the La Liga champions are “willing to listen to offers” for Balde.

It is believed that United have previously made enquiries about the 22-year-old and they are still keeping a close eye on his situation.

Balde did make 42 appearances in all competitions last season, but injuries meant he was limited to 21 league starts.

Man Utd could ask for the player in negotiations for Rashford

Barca are not expected to trigger their option to buy Marcus Rashford for €30m (£26m), but they are still keen on recruiting him.

There are suggestions that the Catalan club are only prepard to pay half (€15m/£13m) of the original purchase clause, which is not a fee that United would accept.

However, if Rashford was included in a bid for Balde, it may unlock a potential solution for the 28-year-old to leave Old Trafford on a permanent basis.
