Barcelona are prepared to sell Man Utd transfer target Alejandro Balde for €45m (£38.5m), according to reports.

The Spanish international’s future at the Camp Nou is in doubt after he was left out of the matchday squad for Barca’s 5-0 win over Elche at the weekend.

Balde is deemed a sellable asset by the La Liga champions, and talkSPORT have confirmed they have now set an asking price.

It is believed that the 22-year-old will be allowed to leave if United or another team pay the required fee before the transfer window shuts on September 1st.

Man Utd are not looking to spend more on new signings

Unless there are departures, it is believed that Carlos Baleba will be the last player to be signed for a sizeable fee this summer. The Red Devils have paid £70m for the Cameroon international.

That takes the Manchester club’s spending for the summer up to £155m, with around £45m being recouped from the permanent departures of Rasmus Hojlund and Radek Vitek.

It is believed that any deal for Balde would have to be a loan, although it isn’t clear at this stage whether an option to buy could be included.

Are there cheaper alternatives to Balde?

RB Leipzig captain David Raum is another name that has been doing the rounds, but his reported £30m price tag means he would cost a similar amount, unless the German international’s club do drop their demands due to the limited time remaining on his contract.

Racing Santander’s Jorge Salinas would be among the cheaper options. The 19-year-old has a €16m (£13.7m) release clause in his contract, but he doesn’t possess the same level of experience as either Balde (who has already won three La Liga titles) or Raum.
